Each session lasts 50 minutes. If therapeutically justified, the session may be extended by 5-10 minutes. In couples therapy the sessions are typically 90 minutes
I have a 72-hour cancellation policy; otherwise, the session will need to be paid for. It may be possible to reschedule within the same week if sufficient notice is given.
Maintaining a high standard of practice is a priority for me. I adhere to the ethical guidelines set by the UKCP and engage in regular professional supervision. To stay up to date in the field, I continually expand my knowledge through training, workshops, and professional development.
The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some clients find that a short-term approach is enough to bring about meaningful change, while others benefit from longer-term support. After our initial session, I usually recommend booking a block of six weekly sessions. This provides a strong foundation and gives us time to explore your needs in depth. After these six sessions, we can reassess and decide together whether ongoing therapy would be helpful.
I offer both brief counselling and long-term therapy. Short-term therapy typically focuses on a specific area or issue, while longer-term work allows space to explore emerging themes and experiences in greater depth.
Confidentiality is upheld in accordance with professional ethical codes and legal obligations. However, there are limits to confidentiality. It cannot maintain confidentiality if doing so would require to break the law or breach professional ethical standards.
In exceptional circumstances, confidentiality may be broken—particularly if I believes there is a serious risk of harm to you or to others. Wherever possible, you will be informed before any disclosure is made.
Please note that confidentiality will be breached without prior consultation if you disclose information relating to acts of terrorism, safeguarding concerns involving a child or vulnerable adult, or drug trafficking. These matters must be reported to the appropriate authorities immediately.
